CRISPY HOT HONEY ONION RINGS INGREDIENTS: Onion Prep & Dry Dredge: 2 large yellow onions, cut into 1/2-inch thick rings 50 g all-purpose flour (for dusting) Wet Batter: 1 cup all-purpose flour 50g cornstarch 1/2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp smoked paprika 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp black pepper 1 large egg 250 ml ice-cold sparkling water Outer Coating: 200 g panko breadcrumbs (or more if needed) 1 tbsp dried parsley Oil for frying Hot Honey Glaze: 120 ml honey 1/4 cup hot sauce 2 tbsp butter 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional) 1 pinch salt Method: Dry dredge the onions: Toss your sliced onion rings in plain flour and shake off the excess. For wet batter: In a bowl, whisk flour, cornstarch, 1/2 tsp baking powder, seasonings, 1 egg, and ice-cold sparkling water until smooth like heavy cream. In an another bowl, add panko breadcrumbs mixed with 1 tbsp dried parsley. Step 1: Toss onion rings in flour and shake off the excess. Step 2: Dip the onion rings in the wet batter to coat completely. Step 3: Press into panko breadcrumbs, making sure crumbs stick evenly to all sides. Heat oil to 180°C (350°F). Fry rings in small batches for 2 to 3 minutes until deep golden brown and super crisp. Transfer to a wire cooling rack. Hot Honey Glaze: Melt butter in a pan, add honey, hot sauce, cayenne powder and salt until fluid. Generously drizzle over hot onion rings right before serving. #Recipe #hothoney #onionrings
