Hands and different tongue clicks are what I use to communicate with my SD the only time I really use formal commands is during training. Real like situations it’s rare that I use a word command

I love this. I have a two year-old Cane Corso and I use my hands to gesture and indicate what I need from him. I don’t want to use treats and clickers because what if I run out of treats or lose a clicker? I need him to be able to be dialled right into me and my body language to understand what I need from him.

rewards and markers are the same amount of natural as hand signals or luring. theyre all also tools to help humans and dogs communicate. its impressive that you and your dog only need hand signals, but other less driven dogs probably couldnt do that with 100% reliability simply for the love of following commands and affection from the handler

this came out 20 years ago I was taught at obedience classes to make hand signs with your words.. it great now as my big going deaf when I ask him to do something I use the hand signals and he knows exactly what it means
