Kyubey is a manipulator. Yes, he gives the girls the choice if they want to become magical, but he doesn’t include the certain parts. For example, he never says that he replaces the girls soul by putting it in a gym, and making the girls body become immortal. Also, he gives the girls a choice to wish. But every wish either backfired or came with a cost. An example, using Sayaka, she wishes for the guy who injured his fingers (forgot his name) To heal and be able to play his desired instrument again. Despite that, he ended up dating Sayaka’s bestfriend instead. This means he completely replaced Sayaka, the girl that most likely saved him from despair. This caused Sayaka grief and despair herself, to the point she loses herself completely and becomes a witch. This shows that he really is a manipulator. While making it seem like being a magical girl is simple, it was much more darker than just that.

kyubey wasn't truthful. he didn't include the full story of what'd they'd turn into and what would happen to them, and used the excuse that they "never asked". like a real contract.
