A little spoiler, guys… this actually has a happy ending. Thanrak and Barth end up being together and living their lives without being separated, even though their journey is full of conflict and sacrifice. However, on the other hand, this is not a completely “perfect” ending or one that will feel the same for every viewer, because everyone has their own perspective in interpreting the story. Thanrak eventually chooses not to continue his path as a future pastor, while Barth, who initially did not believe in God, continues to live his life with the faith he personally holds. Their relationship wins in terms of love, but it still comes with some losses and major life changes. So, they are able to be together without having to unify or erase each other’s beliefs—it’s more about accepting each other and standing side by side despite different choices and faiths. Because of that, I think this is a happy ending in terms of their relationship, but also a bittersweet one when it comes to their journey of faith, life choices, and the sacrifices involved. I’m sharing this spoiler so you won’t be disappointed, because no matter what, relationships like this always come with many challenges, especially with differences in background, beliefs, and life paths. So the ending is not the kind of “perfect” one, but rather realistic and meaningful, depending on how each viewer understands it.
