yeh 'ketchup' in our ears is 'kicap' as in 'soy sauce'. if u want ketchup, u have to ask for chili or tomato sauce.

We don't call ketchup in Malaysia.. We called it "tomato sauce" instead.. So as if anyone asked for ketchup, we heard it as kicap (soy sauce) ☺️

so if you want to find ketchup in malaysia, it's easier to ask for 'tomato sauce' (literal translation of ketchup in malay). soy sauce sounds like ketchup in malay(kicap), hence why they gave you soy sauce. not ketchup. hope this helps!

That's sweet soy sauce! You actually can try eat it with fried egg and rice! Also usually it's added in cooking hehe if you want to find ketchup just say "sos tomato" 😂

That's actually dark/thick soy sauce, mostly used for cooking, to add colour to the cooking. Like soy braised chicken/meat, mee goreng(fried noodles), char kuey teow. Soy sauce = kicap in malay. Ketchup = Tomato sauce in Malaysia. Ketchup, kicap sounds very similar but are 2 completely different things 😅

Do you mean heinz tomato ketchup? maybe u can find tomato puree or brand prego for pasta cooking.. dont buy tomato sause..
