BapJ :
Dear South Africans,
Many of those driving fellow Africans out of South Africa today were not yet born when African nations across the continent opened their doors to South African freedom fighters, political leaders, and ordinary citizens fleeing apartheid.
During those difficult years, African countries provided refuge, protection, education, employment, and solidarity. They welcomed South Africans as brothers and sisters, not as strangers. They shared their limited resources and stood firmly with South Africa in its struggle for freedom, dignity, and justice.
It is therefore deeply disappointing and unacceptable to witness acts of xenophobia, violence, intimidation, and hatred directed at fellow Africans who have come to South Africa seeking opportunities and a better life.
We condemn xenophobia in the strongest possible terms. No African should be persecuted, attacked, or forced to flee simply because they come from another African nation. Such actions betray the spirit of African unity, solidarity, and the sacrifices that were made during the liberation struggle.
Let us remember our shared history. Let us remember those who stood together when freedom was under attack. Let us reject hatred and division, and instead embrace the principles of Ubuntu, respect, peace, and brotherhood.
Africa belongs to all Africans.
Stop Xenophobia. Choose Unity. Choose Humanity.
