If you want another series that has complex villains, and morally grey characters on both sides of the conflict, definitely check out the Bound and the Broken by Ryan Cahill! Not as violent as Gwynne’s series, but it’s a good modern “classic” epic fantasy series!

I just started Ruin!! I loved the Bloodsworn Saga and I am loving this series! Gwynne does such a great job with different POVs as well as use of his characters all over the map of The Banished Lands. And while I can say I loved the Bloodsworn Saga, there were some POVs I wasn’t exactly excited to read. I have enjoyed every POV in this series, they add so much to the world building. The only thing I’m wondering about is a POV we haven’t seen yet and I’m wondering if it’ll be in Wrath.
