@thepastbroughttolife: 🚨Hidden in plain sight 🚨 These original World War II air raid shelter signs are still visible on Lord North Street in Westminster guiding civilians to safety during the Blitz over 80 years ago. Small details like this keep London’s wartime history alive. #blitz #ww2 #hiddenhistory #london #historytok
I always stop to look at the phone box outside the V&A that has some WW2 damage marks

In some places there are signs on the ground and walls advising people to keep social distancing for covid… In time they’ll take on this sort of relevance, if they’re preserved

The first sign you showed there was a sign on the door to the right that showed the shelter just under those stairs

Just stumbled upon your page and am intrigued! I’m American, and my great grandfather was in the Navy in WW2, and his sister was General Patton’s head nurse. I love learning about the history of WW2. 🇺🇸

Those are Georgian. You can tell by the flat facades, the proportion of the windows and that there are no front gardens …

We had a ww2 shelter in our old back garden. It used to serve our house and 5 other houses. It was at the end of the garden built into the mound at the bottom.
