(not directed at OP) but there’s a way to solve this by communicating with the neighbor and having a silly laugh over it instead of ruining their fence. this could’ve simply been an accident they didn’t even know was a possibility?

I painted my fence, tried to avoid leaking on to my eldery neighbours side and it did. She came round and asked me very politely to paint hers same side, I did it without hesitation. I made the mess so I should put it right. She loved the colour and was very grateful.
