after everything we’ve been through, covid, the Biden status-quote years, now Trump, and wars i can’t even name here, how are people still asking this? capitalism is broken at the root. it runs on profit first, always. social democracy can soften it a bit, but it does not change the system underneath.

obviously not. that old way of seeing capitalism is obsolete. now if capitalism wants to survive it needs to be based on a welfare society, where all social rights are guaranteed for everyone.

If they do it for profit they have no incentive to create good products only to produce as cheaply as possible to maximize profits, that’s what Adam Smith forgot to mention in his theory.

It seems clear that the best economy is the one that prospers the most people. What we have now is not that and even past reforms that have been removed lacked in that way. it seems like maybe trying something different is the right way to go.

Adam Smith’s own theory’s call for strong regulation to ensure competition. That without strong regulation ensuring competition, capitalism fails. Smith also recommends some markets should have shared costs. America’s “capitalism” is not Adam Smiths. Far from it.

Capitalism can only flourish under real competition. Corporations are not people; so no political donations. Ban stock shorting to prevent hype abuse.
