It introduced the staggered box magazine that still dominates handgun designs today. It also introduced the barrel wedge that replaced the link found in the 1911 for the purpose of unlocking the barrel from the slide in recoil. But the insistence by certain militaries to incorporate a magazine disconnect degraded the clean trigger pull of the original design. It also introduced into the vernacular the misnomer “high power’”, when the accurate term was “high capacity”. Media still makes that mistake.
