@anthonymakar: If you think Temperance means "balance," watch this. 👁️ Temperance doesn't put equal amounts of everything into the pot. Equal parts salt, garlic, and grief? No. Temperance is about knowing your ingredients. Courage, surrender, and release. ✨ #TarotCommunity #tarot #tarottiktok #learntarot #spiritualitytok
Love this interpretation! Temperance isn’t about balance, but I do believe through it balance can be restored, maybe this is where people get hung up on balance. There is also a precision in Temperance that no one talks about (aside from you here without directly saying it). When something is “tempered” it needs to reach a very specific temperature to get the material to be in the specific state we want it to be in. Whether that material is metal or even chocolate, being mindful of the heat of the item is critical to get your desired outcome.

I always think of temperance like tempering the strength of the soul, like a samurai sword is made - by tempering that steel by folding it over 1000 times , until it's indestructible... Temperance is that tempered soul.

Temperance to me is an alchemist, creating spiritual medicine specifically designed for results. She’s been the inspiration for me for decades, and is the one archetype that I have studied with the most.

balance doesnt mean equal amounts of everything. it means the right amount of everything to achieve the desired result. a balanced meal is not a meal with equal portions of every ingredient, its a meal with the needed amounts of every ingredient.

It's also represented within the card illustration: all elements are present in there (fire=star/sun, water, earth=plants, air=the sky or her wings) but they're not equally represented, and also disposed in a certain way that follows the path of least resistance (aka the laws of the universe, the laws of nature)

I am so grateful that I’ve found you. You make learning tarot so interesting! Always explaining the relation to the other cards (great for context as a whole but also just the repetition of the prior cards), always giving us your beautiful take on what we should take from it and what we should question. I always giggle or cry (or both) when watching your videos, you never fail to leave us feeling a little bit more enlightened than before. Thank you so much for sharing your gift as Yourself.♥️🫂

I wonder if you looked a bit more into balance as it was associated with humoral medicine? More of a “temperament”/Temperance connection? The balance is not equal parts, balance is unique to each individual (or each “dish” in your cooking metaphor).

Grant Isaac Tarot :
A lot ppl overlook the real meaning of this card entirely. Look closer at the illustration & you’ll see the card depicts the Angel of the Lord (who has “God’s Name in him”, according to Kabbalah a direct reference to Metatron). As described in Exodus 14, the angel of the Lord guided the Israelites through the Red sea, through the wilderness desert, and to Mt Sinai. Hebrew bible refers to the Red sea as the sea of reeds (Yam Suph) as it’s shown here on the card; the reeds with yellow iris flowers. The angel who bears God’s Name YHVH on his chest parts the sea and guides the path through the wilderness that leads to the mountain (Sinai) in the background. Temperance card is assigned to the Hebrew letter Samekh, meaning support. Samekh has a gematria value of 60 just like the word Keli, meaning vessel. Just like the vessels the angel tempers with. Essentially, it’s about preparing ur vessel (body) to receive the Light at Sinai. Btw, Hermit is Moses on Mt Sinai holding the Light. When you get this card, it often regards long distance travel or move to a new location just as the Israelites did from out of Egypt & into the Promised Land.
