licensed radio guy here 👋. That "walkie talkie" is what is called a network radio. It uses cell networks to relay communications. Network radios can potentially have better cellular connectivity, but thats definitely not guaranteed. Once out of cellular range the only real way to communicate long distances is ham radio and/or satellite.

My friend bought them for us to use on our side-by-side. We quickly found out that if there is no cell service or cell towers around you get zero reception. So if you’re in the desert or out in Colorado in the mountains, zip zilch nothing don’t be fooled 25,000 mile range yeah right. Only if there’s a cell tower within range that has 4G.
