I heard peppering before cooking burns the pepper during the sear? So should be added after?

Luke Parthemore :
Never put pepper on a steak BEFORE searing it in a hot pan. Black pepper burns at 260F.

It’s the scent that better when freshly ground, it’s pretty simple

I'm too slow with my prep and the overall cook to worry about freshly grinding pepper to aquire the same taste as pre ground 😂

depends on how old the preground is

Definitely placebo. Freshly ground pepper only makes a difference in flavor if you’re using it as a finisher.

I feel like fresh ground affects the sear in a good way. 🤷♀️Idk why?

The difference for me is the age of the grind. The pre-ground one can be old old.

Those aren’t real steaks being that thin. It doesn’t matter what seasoning you use if the steak is skinny.

but did you toast your peppercorns before you put it in your grinder? Unless you're making steak au poivre, wait and pepper later

imaybetrollingyou :
fresh ground is better because the kernals are slightly bigger so when you bite it you get more black pepper taste in my opinion

to me it's like bay leaves. I put fresh ground pepper on everything because I can smell it. bay leaves same thing if a computer analyzed my little stew it might tell me it doesn't make a difference but to me I can smell it and that makes a difference

A lot of ingredients are ideal, but often what we have on hand is typically fine.
