if you're trying to earn points I've personally found flights on the chase portal to be the same price as the airline website. I always double check but if its the same I want the 5x bonus through the portal

I agree with airline but hotels there are so many perks when book fine hotels through Amex as early and late check out, breakfast, $100 resort credit. I stayed at the Ritz in Miami with Amex portal and got a late check out for 4 pm, my breakfast was free and I got 5x the points

Yes! I always look for Hyatt’s because you get more for less. Ive had a trip to NC and PR for free because of it.

Not always the case. I’ve gotten the best flight redemptions on economy direct to Asia for as little as 59k points all in booking thru chase with ANA and JAL. This is booking 3-4 months out btw. I cross reference prices direct with airline vs with chase and its the exact same 99% of the time except for hotels and car rentals which I usually dont recommend unless you have credits to use.

There's a lot of times when it's cheaper on Chase Portal through points boost especially if you have a CSR. These things are not absolutes
