@nard2hard1: One underrated strategy labels use is building momentum before a music video even goes public. Upload the video as “unlisted” on YouTube first, then run ads to generate views, likes, and engagement ahead of the release. Once the video already has traction, switch it to public. Now it looks like the video instantly exploded the moment it dropped. Perception matters in music marketing, and people naturally pay attention to content that already looks active and popular. 🎙️: @nard2hard / @raydaniels 🎥: @RayDanielsPresents SOURCE: Nard2hard from WAMM Promotions: Master Marketing Strategies & AI for Platform Growth #musicbusiness #musicmarketing #musicpromotion #musicindustry #independentartist #wammpromotions #nard2hard #youtubemarketing
But how are the ads running if it’s unlisted and no one can see it?

It’s giving the illusion of social proof because unfortunately most people don’t think things are cool until they see other people thinks it’s cool of worth their time to watch. This happens across social media more than people think. It’s like buying views to make yourself look popular.

But depending on who you target, it can hurt the long term success of the video. Hardly any likes or comments will come in unless the artist is already massive. So you could do ads and get 100k views then no views after that and it just sits there with bad engagement so it won’t get suggested to the audience you want to capture

Only thing about that is, if somebody comments on the video while it's unlisted, when you finally make it public, everybody can see the video didn't just drop, because of the date of the comments from when it was unlisted, if I'm not mistaken 🤷🏽♀️

Would the artist name and song title still be the same? And would it only get traffic because the algorithm is pushing it out to people even if it’s unlisted?
