This really hit home for me. Just last night, I had a dream that I was in a long queue waiting to meet a woman who was giving grants to young people. When it got to my turn, she simply asked, “What do you need the money for?” Instead of answering directly, I started explaining how my business had collapsed, how I’d been struggling, and the whole backstory. She stopped me and said I was wasting her time and asked me to leave. As I pleaded, she said something that stayed with me: “Next time you meet an opportunity like this, don’t talk too much. Just answer the question and get straight to the point.” Watching this, I couldn’t help but smile because it reminded me of that dream. I think over-explaining is one of my biggest weaknesses. Sometimes less is more. Thank you for this reminder……….it confirms a lesson I feel I’ve already been taught.
