Part 4 of Thor’s Journey! In the months that followed the removal of the wire that was embedded in Thor’s leg, he has a very long and hard road ahead of him. He stayed on stall rest unless it was for bandage changes or monitored field time in a small area of grass. His wound had so much drainage and infection now pouring from it finally once and for all, the smell of the bandages each morning for the first week was overwhelming but slowly as time went on the drainage got to be less and less, the wraps were coming off less soaked through and his swelling was dropping drastically. He continued to thrive more and more without the infection running through his body and continued to improve as more time went on. Thor fought very hard for a happy ending that he deserved. He worked with us through all the challenges and medical care he needed never once giving us any issues. For a horse that is as gentle as he is to have been so neglected is even more heartbreaking because this kind natured soul truly didn’t deserve the treatment he had. He would have let anyone do anything to him without issue. So to let him starve to nothing and suffer from a senseless and cruel wound had absolutely no excuse whatsoever. Thor’s leg healed better than anyone could have imagined! Though he still holds a very nasty scar it is just proof of the neglect he overcame.
