“Do you know how to say this in Japanese” I repeated this so many times and now he would ask me back every time when he sees something new. He would ask “mama what’s this in Japanese” , and repeat it again after I told him. I would encourage him to speak more in order to communicate with teacher. Whenever I asked him if he talks to teacher in school today, his response is always NO. Lately he started to tell me about his days in school, one day he told me he was running in the school, and teacher told him “DAME DAME”ダメダメ, means No No. and he was imitating the teacher reaction. It was really funny. It takes time for him to start his first Japanese word here , and I think the best way is to start from home teaching. I repeat the greeting words with him everyday for several time, and now he can say “ohayou gozaimasu” good morning to the teacher. “Mata ne” see you again after the school.
