That was the dichotomy of Dale Earnhardt. He was both a good father and a bad one at the same time. He made a lot of mistakes and he learned from them and he tried to pass those learning experiences onto his children as they got older because he failed to do it as a father when they were young

I mean little did he know if he would have taken him under his wing and taught him all he knew about racing he would have always known where he was and who he was hanging out with…bc he would have been with his dad.
