It’s man’s fascination/obsession with controlling women’s bodies, wants, and actions. He had several chances and still chose to be the monster. The willow morphes to fit your desire, his desires were sick and twisted, he just couldn’t bare with the consequences, hence why he wanted to adjust the wish not get rid of it. He was obsessed with Nikki. He was the monster, the willow just reflected it.
