@drmassimofontana: Some people have an amazing ability in delivering an apology and it lands for us. we feel the sincerity. we feel the truth behind it. we experience feeling seen and we then allow the forgiveness to take hold and we move on. Then there are other apologies that just don't... #apology #howtoapologise #forgivenessisfreedom #apologisewell #drmassimo
I also noticed that sometimes the apology isn’t the issue. The person receiving it may not be emotionally ready to receive it yet even if the apology was genuine and communicated correctly.

As a former writing teacher and present therapist, this metaphor is accurate and insightful.

I didn’t believe it, even if it sounded good and the right words were used. So I decided not to wait.

I’m learning to understand myself better every time I listen to you. I always thought I’m the ungrateful one😢 This resonates with me. Thank you.

This resonates so deeply… and helps articulate what I “felt” getting an apology… guilt vs the hurt that was experienced…

Yes ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹 I always thought it was my neurospicy brain that prevented me from receiving apologies that were not in my la gage of pain and impact… but I actually think an important part of the repair is to deeply attune to the experience of the hurt; what it actually cost them; the impact they shared… so naturally an apology should be in their language of impact… not your own internal experience of it

It means they have no awareness and empathy. Because if they did, they would apologise for the damage which would take awareness, acknowledgement and compassion
