@at.the.dresser: 4 weeks ago I started Eufidix cream on my chest, this is a topical chemotherapy treatment to bring potential sun cancers to the surface. It works by destroying damaged skin cells. 🗓️ Week 1: Skin starts getting red and irritated. 🔥 Week 2–3: Peeling, crusting, soreness, and scabbing can happen — and yes, it can look intense. That reaction usually means the cream is working. ✨ Healing stage: After stopping treatment, fresh skin slowly appears over the next few weeks. I have only just stopped treatment so my skin looks and feels red, it feels and is tight ! It is also one of the most painful things I have ever done. I liken it to feeling like a blow torch burning from the inside out. The pain and irritation has been constant, and I had a huge amount of reaction raise to the surface on my chest. My tolerance has been low, my mood low, with pain level high it’s hard to focus on other things, but like most women do I still looked after everyone else when I’ve really wanted to curl in a ball and knock myself out with a sedative most days. Am I glad I did it ? Absolutely ! As I would rather this than melanoma, and I would without hesitation do it again ! We don’t know what others are going through, this is an app where we see glimpses of each other, we peek into each others lives like voyours and we think we know people… we don’t ! Be kind to each other ✨ Wear your SPF ⚠️Not medical advice #EfudixS#SkinCancerAwarenessS#SunDamageA#ActinicKeratosisS#SkincareJourney

Can you use anything to dull the pain while you’re healing, both topical and internally?

🥰Oh boy, that looks really painful. Especially because it’s such a large surface area that’s been treated, I could imagine how sore it would be just a patch, but the scale of that, wow you’re very brave xxx

Oh this sounds so painful! Thanks for sharing with us 🫶🏻 a great reminder that prevention is the best medicine ✨ I hope it starts to feel better soon!!! I had a friend share a post similar to this a few years ago where she’d had the top layer of her lips burnt off after years of no spf - I’ve worn spf lip outside everyday since, her post had such a lasting impact on me xx

This sounds so painful Stacii but how incredibly you can do it. In the long run, the pain is worth it. I’m positive my chest would look similar tbh. Wear sunscreen every day but certainly didn’t as a teen and early 20s. I hope now the pain started to subside as the healing increases

I am so pleased you have come through the other side. It is unbelievably painful. Hats off to you for still pushing through and keeping us informed on here of products and skincare. 🥰🥰 If it means not having huge chunks cut out and months of cancer meds to deal with Melanoma it is worth it. 🤗🤗
