I recommend the book Decolonizing Language and Other Revolutionary Ideas by Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o. It’s a VERY important work. And for me, having been born in America and have English as my first language, I realize the critical necessity for learning a traditional African language to decolonize my mind! That said, my son-in-law is Yoruba. Thus, I plan to work closely with him to learn the Yoruba language.
