As someone with an autistic sibling who was nonverbal for almost his entire life, thank you! I believe that the schools are to blame for a lot of the nonverbal, and negative behaviors autistic children exhibit. My brother was pulled out of school after 9th grade, and before he could barely communicate in sentences, or respond. After he was taken out of school, he started talking to us, communicating his thoughts and feelings. Schools enforce silence, and force kids to talk at the same time, rather than just letting students speak when ready.
