@magic.thespian: Inde Navarrette is a rising star!! but don't forget the scene partner! My boy MICHAEL JOHNSTON IS TERRIFYING and PAINFULLY HONEST #Film #Acting #amcalister #horror #obsession

Dan :
I’m so glad someone is finally pointing out how good Michael Johnston was in this. Inde ABSOLUTELY should win multiple Oscars for her performance. Hands down one of the best horror performances I’ve seen. But man, Michael had to absolutely nail this character or it does not work. Some scenes where he had to be as emotional and frantic as Inde sent chills down my spine. He absolutely nailed the ending for example

tbf he did say in an interview he didnt understand people calling Bear the villain till that interview so his cluelessness kinda helped his performance 😅

She was great in Superman and Lois too, honestly she almost felt out of place because of how good her acting is

Yall thought Baer was the bad guy? When the entity that was in Nikki literally was the direct cause of all the slaughter

this is the most insightful take I've seen, bc it takes getting past a lot of discomfort to see Bear for the accidental, unwitting villain that he is.
my process in the audience unfolded like a reverse direction of Bear's denial of what's really happening to Nikki. i watched about a dozen (partial lol) livestreams before i could see his ernestness and vulnerability all the way through, bc it was hard to get past knowing the larger context of what we know about her loss of autonomy.
we can only see what he sees from the outside in, while we already know about OWWish Freaky Nikki
.
only once we can fully embrace Bears limited perspective can we see the depths of horror he brought on himself while his denial shatters in stages as he understands the unimaginable horror he brought Nikki-- Michael's quiet performance meets us right there with ALL OF IT
.
Inde is 💯 as incredible as the hype, but Johnson is right there with her, and arguably has a more difficult and complicated role to play, as the ignorant villian
.
Michael shows us the entire process of Bear realizing his villainy-- culminating in a violent death toll within only two days.
CRAZY good

My ex was just like bear. He didn’t care how much he put me through. Just as long as he got to say “that’s mine” at the end of the day. Then when I was depressed and couldn’t even get out of bed for months after having every aspect of my life controlled, he wanted to leave. He wanted to be worshipped and me to be happy about it. This movie was rough for me
