The Hujrat al-Gabr al-Nabawi al-Sharif refers to the Noble Chamber where the Prophet ﷺ is buried. Historical Background The chamber was originally the home of Aisha. When the Prophet ‎ﷺ died, he was buried in this same chamber. The room has undergone several changes and renovations over the centuries to protect and honor the graves within. Structure and Design The structure surrounding the tomb has evolved into several layers of protection and partitions over the centuries. These include walls, coverings, and barriers that surround the grave area. The Tomb (Gabr al-Nabawi): This is where the actual grave of the Prophet ‎ﷺ is located. The grave is within the chamber and is not directly visible to the public. No one has direct access to the grave except for rare instances of official maintenance. Walls and Barriers Inner Walls: The original structure has a small inner chamber that was initially the private living quarters of the Prophet ‎ﷺ and his wife Aisha. The grave is inside this space. Hexagonal Structure: Over time, an outer hexagonal structure was built around the inner walls to enclose the tomb area further. Curtain (Sitara): A green curtain or sitara covers the outer walls, and the area has been closed off to prevent entry by the public. This curtain separates the graves from the public areas of the mosque. Gold and Green Enclosure (Maqsurah): On the outside, there is a decorated metal grill visible to visitors when they visit the Rawdah or when passing by the chamber. This serves as the most external visible barrier, preventing access to the graves. Visitors can see the enclosure but cannot see the actual tombs behind it. Function and Layout The Hujrat al-Gabr al-Nabawi al-Sharif does not lie directly on top of the tomb but encloses the tomb within multiple layers. I really had no idea how his ‎ﷺ tomb was set up! So crazy to get to see a curtain that hung in this private chamber. 🤩 #islam #muhammadﷺ #islamic #reverttoislam #revertmuslim
