When I was a kid, I was always told I would end up like my birth parents. Drug addicts and penniless. I grew up poor and stealing food. I never dreamed of becoming more than what I was always told I was…nothing. Now I’m 26 and I just got my RN license. I feel like a fraud when I tell people I’m a nurse. I don’t feel proud of this accomplishment…and these words really spoke to me. I hope I’ll have the courage to take up space and learn to feel like proud of myself
