I partially agree. Dating apps are a dopamine hit that focus on instant gratification rather than authenticity. I use them, actually was engaged to someone I met on one at one point, but had I looked more deeply at that person and paid attention to their superficiality, I would have spared myself immense pain. The apps aren't necessarily the problem though, it's the people using them. If you keep going after the same types of people, never engaging in conversation on the apps and trying to genuinely connect, then you're going to constantly be disappointed in the results. It is on us to break cycles and recognize that these patterns and choices are hindering us. One cannot blame a tool for failing at a task, but one can improve how they make use of that tool. I use the apps, I am building slow bonds and connections with people and am in no rush to any finish line.
