Your life is as easy or as hard as you decide it to be.
It’s my birthday and here’s what I know now that I wish I knew when I was younger. If you listen I promise I will save you years of struggle.  When I was younger, I didn’t know the difference between problems that could be solved and realities that needed to be accepted. I was determined to never give up, never surrender.  Acceptance was for losers. Surrender felt like death.  When you're so determined everything feels like a problem to solve.  I  was so busy fighting that I never stopped to ask myself if this was even a fight I could win. As I got older and fought enough battles, I realized that not everything is winnable.  It didn’t mean that I didn’t fight hard enough.  It didn’t mean I had failed.  It meant there was a third option.  It wasn’t just winning or losing. I needed to learn how to accept things as they were.  I wish I could say that I learned how to accept things in a more peaceful way that I learned it through some beautiful and poignant story but I didn’t-  My dad was diagnosed with FTD an incurable dimensia that killed him, I got skin cancer that left me with 60 stitches in my face and I  broke up with my partner- And that’s when I learned there are some things in life that you cannot fix or solve no matter how hard you try.  I got beat down by the universe so many times that I eventually had no choice but to get the message and that message was: There’s a  difference between problems that you can solve and realities that need to be accepted.  It’s raining on my birthday. That’s not a problem that I can solve. It is something I have to accept.  Your life gets a lot easier when you accept what you can’t change.  #acceptance #letgo #whatilearned
