@lucinternet: In 1990, British Airways Flight 5390 cockpit windscreen failure became the scene of one of aviation's most astonishing emergencies. At 17,000 feet, part of the cockpit windscreen suddenly failed, triggering explosive decompression and pulling the captain partially out of the aircraft. As powerful winds pinned the pilot against the outside of the plane, crew members desperately held onto him while the co-pilot took command and carried out an emergency descent. Remarkably, the captain survived the ordeal, suffering frostbite, bruising and severe shock but remaining alive. The incident remains a powerful example of teamwork, composure under extreme pressure and the bravery that can transform a near catastrophe into a story of survival.
