We already did this, it was called Y2K. There will be no problems in 2038, it will be fixed by then if it is even still an issue.

Unlike Y2K, this is a much harder fix and is more of a hardware limitation. Y2K was because programmers only used 2 digits for the year to save memory. they had the ability to expand. This is not the case here
