My ex got so pressed when I’d use big words like facetious, semantics, egregious, etc and claimed that he knew what they meant but said that they’re “not normal” words and that it makes me sound stuck up. Also got mad when they used a word incorrectly and I could CORRECTLY define the word, and they’d say that I was “nitpicking”. I also have a thing about people using holographic instead of iridescent because they mean very different things and holographic used incorrectly all the time. Maybe it’s because I hate words being used incorrectly and I also love iridescent things—

As someone who had this happen YEARS ago, I'm not surprised? I was literally bullied growing up bc I talked "like a book". why? bc I was the only one who read them

My granddaughter is 7. I started teaching her "big" words when she was 5. She loves learning and using them. As of now, her favorite is kerfuffle!
