That’s not a socialist utopia, this is how capitalism was meant to be, but give gets in the way.

“Socialist utopia” Anything but admitting capitalism with minimal government intervention is the best system.

We used to just call this a “company town”

This is quite literally the most capitalistic thing I’ve ever seen. A company wants to retain workers, they invest in the town to retain workers, they generate more profit.

So Walmart has proven they can help the public but refuses to everywhere else, and still has the highest percent of employees on SNAP benefits of any company in the country. Thanks for highlighting their choices.

The answer is one billionaire wanted a bike-able city because they liked cycling. And so they built the town that way because they had the money to do it.

this just proves that billionaires have the ability to make life so much better for the average person but refuse to do it unless its people they care about/have a connection with. the 1% could do this with all of america and still all be billionaires many times over.

Waltons are synonymous with American capitalism, not socialism. No government take over of private institutions here. This is private money pouring back into the community.

All the while the people who’ve lived here their wholes lives are being priced out. Small businesses that have been here for decades having their building bought and rent increased 100% forcing them to close and be replaced.

If you think this is a “company town,” you’re going to be startled when you actually learn what a company town REALLY is. This is just capitalism done right. Make money, invest it to improve your profits, make more money. It should come as no surprise that investing to improve the bottom line includes making your workers lives more awesome
