The original Lada is just a copy of the Fiat 124. The original Fiat-based car (VAZ-2101) was significantly modified to meet the difficult conditions of the Soviet Union. It included, among other things, a stronger body, greater ground clearance and an easier-to-start engine for cold weather. Greetings from Finland 🇫🇮

Lada is designed in Italy. It is Fiat 124. Not designed in Russia.

The Fiat 124 derivative known as the Lada was an Italian design simplified and using somewhat cheaper materials. The Soviet factories deserve credit for churning them out by the millions, but very little of the durability and simplicity had anything to do with Soviet engineering.

The Samara is unbeatable just check out that Bourne movie there he drives the Samara through Moscow. Lada was built as everything mechanical with the help of the US who built the Car Plants in Russia since decades before 70s.
