Borsch, blini, pelmeni, and syrniki are typically served with sour cream. Borsch is a meat-based soup (the choice of meat is optional) and is considered a Ukrainian dish; however, since the Soviet era, it has become a staple across all Russian-speaking countries. It always contains beets and cabbage—and, according to some, beans as well (though I consider that optional)—along with potatoes, onions, and carrots; garlic, paprika, pepper, and tomato are optional additions. It’s best enjoyed with rye bread, slices of salted salo, and a shot of 60% "water" 😉😂. After all, pelmeni are often seasoned with ground pepper and frequently eaten with that same 60-percent-strength vinegar solution👍🔥😂.Using sausage in Olivier salad is considered bad form—it is better to use boiled chicken breast instead.
