@aaron_kubaldc: How to fix back pain from sitting all day. This fitness coach is a perfect example of how pseudoscience contradicts itself, especially when faced with the actual scientific evidence… She claims sitting causes to tight hip flexors (pseudoscience), which leads to back pain (pseudoscience), and then recommends exercises that would actually tighten one hip flexor while loosening the other (contradicting herself), all while failing to realize that the evidence suggests these exercises would actually place MORE tension on the allegedly “tight” hip flexors (further contradicting herself) due to increased tendon stiffness adaptations that come from tensile loading over the long term. Yikes. Not to mention the other false claims about back pain she glossed over (“inactive glutes & a weak core cause back pain”)… Thank god she didn’t attempt to elaborate on those. I think my brain would’ve exploded. I’m fully in favor of fitness coaches sharing pain & injury advice UNLESS it’s pseudoscience bullsh*t like this. Then I’m in favor of them staying in their lane. #backpain #backpainrelief #stretching #hipflexors

Hot take - stretching doesn't elongate your muscles. It teaches your nervous system to release them.

Not true. It’s a shortened position! Shorten makes it tight! Pretty silly to not understand this simple thing

Chiros during my clinic year kept saying the same thing...I just told patients, who were otherwise healthy, that changing positions while working or sitting down for too long is the trick 5 minutes tops

Sitting down shortens length of hip flexors and weakens glutes

there is overwhelming evidence to show tight hip flexors cause back pain, and sitting all day cause tight hip flexors. read meta analysis and random control studies to get credible evidence

The 90/90 hip rotation while lifting the foot off the ground, followed by stretching the whole leg and hold it for 30 seconds . I found it very effective for back pain, exactly as was said in the TikTok video.

I don’t often stand up because of my EDS and spend most of my life lying on my bed, but when I do stand up both my hips have to snap on each side in order for me to actually be upright. I wonder what this is.
