Dinnertime can be such a struggle. Everyone’s getting tired and hungry, both kids need mama in different ways and I just need my hands (and a fraction of my brain) to prepare our food. And sometimes, this is what it’s like. A lot of noise, trying to meet their needs and calm tantrums and God knows what else - hopefully with an ounce of grace. 🫠 I don’t always successfully remain calm. But when I do, ahh it feels so good. 🙌🏼 My big boy gets BIIIG feelings (he’s a spicy & highly sensitive kiddo) and it’s not always easy to get through to him when he’s reached a certain point. But this is what that usually looks like. Maintaining that connection and still pouring love into him, letting him know that he is worthy of it even when he’s having a hard time, but also reminding him that not all behaviour is acceptable. THIS is gentle parenting. It’s not permissive, it’s definitely not only for “gentle kids”. 💁🏻‍♀️ If you like to see more real life parenting examples, be sure to follow along for more.
