maybe professionals need to start listening to late diagnosed adhd'ers. we've know this for years. I suffered depression and anxiety for about 35 years before I was diagnosed adhd at 42. it went away after starting adhd meds. antidepressants did nothing except making me care less about all the things I wasnt able to do. therapy worked while having sessions but stopped when the novelty of the tools I learned wore off.

I was diagnosed depressed, bipolar, and had huge anxiety. Hospitalized many many times . It turns out I’m AuDHD. Changed my life. 🤩🤩

I was treated for depression and social anxiety from about 16 yrs old. When I was 31 I decided that I didn't want to accept that this was as good as it could get for the rest of my life. Started researching. Self diagnosed ADHD, got a formal diagnosis a couple of months later & started meds. Every time I forget to take my stimulant, I am dumbfounded by the fact that I survived 32 years struggling with extreme fatigue, listlessness & depression. I was able to discontinue several medications & greatly reduce my sertraline. The depression was/is a symptom of living with unrecognized, unsupported neurodivergence.

late diagnosed Finnish here Hi! twice diagnosed with depression and medicated for that. Didn't work.... now on ADHD meds and feeling a lot better

I get the lowered need for antibiotics and anti inflammatories. As a kid I’d collapse twice a year and be sick for 3/4 weeks. I’d get bronchitis middle of the school year and the end. This went on through college at the end of each semester. It absolutely had to do with school stress and probably masking.

I can really relate to this. I am a 36 year old woman. just recently went to a psyciatric hospital for depression conserns and found out I have combined ADHD and level1 Autism. aka Audhd. + sleep apnea. now I am on medication for ADHD and a CPAP machine at night. and its been about 4 weeks with meds and 2 nights with the machine and my life is so much better. feel more grounded and less up in the air if that makes any sence...🙂

My doctor told me I have chronic depression and that I need to be on antidepressants for the rest of my life when I was a teen, but the antidepressants didn’t work, only paired with concerta it worked. I have ADHD.

I got a diagnosis of "chronic depression" 25 years ago (I was about 20yo) because no one knew about ADHD or autism, especially on women. My quality of life became so much better after getting AuDHD diagnosis few years ago.

My autism was not diagnosed until I was forty, along with adhd. i had been treated with antipressants and antipsychotics since I was probably fifteen, now that I am being correctly and my brain has sort of had time to recalibrate from the wrong meds, I am definitely a different person.

ADHD diagnosed in 30s, and the change was PROFOUND. Depression and Anxiety went with the therapy progression. For my own mentality: I was overjoyed to have answers for all those questions. “Why can’t I do what they can? Is there something I’m doing wrong?”

Big this! I was treated for depression and anxiety for years before being diagnosed with ADHD. I used to have the worst binge drinking problem, now I rarely touch alcohol since being on ADHD meds

I went in to see my doctor 7 years ago o er depression. he said sounds like adhd let's try Ritalin. Just like that I was happy again and kept life organized and motivated again
