@airic.z: Yes the 22% tax sucks, but the worst part is the potential downstream impacts that will likely happen (other than more people investing which I think is a good thing) What are your thoughts on the 22% tax on uninvested cash? #stockandsharesisa #ukpersonalfinance #cashisa

If I get a dividend, how long does the cash need to stay uninvested before it’s taxed?

I keep hearing about this but I don't understand what they mean by un-invested cash.

Sorry if this is a silly question, but say there were dividends in there that hadn't yet been reinvested (eg. if you hadn't opened your account in a whole due to long term investments), how do you deal with the tax charge? Does it automatically go on tax code or is I a tax return situation?..

This is literally me. I've had uninvested cash in a stocks and shares ISA for years, and my alternative is a money market fund as a safe bet. To come after both of those is tricky. I'm not sure what my plan would be.

New rules will also apply to transferring funds, and from April 2027 you will no longer be able to transfer funds from a Stocks and Shares ISA or Innovative Finance ISA into a Cash ISA. I have 60k worth of shares.. reducing my risk as retirement is near.... if i sell now 60k can be transferred to my cash isa... if i sell after April 27 I cant transfer the cash to my cash isa... so the 60k earning interest will be subject to tax..... so instead of reeves encouraging investing she has done the opposite.... I have to sell my shares now and transfer the money into my isa before the April deadline

What if you get divideds back that isn’t enough to buy another stock. I.e you gain 40 back in dividends and a stock is 140
