Connection to Hajj
Eid al-Adha falls on the 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic lunar calendar. It directly coincides with the culmination of Hajj, the holy pilgrimage to Mecca. While Ibrahim and Ismail rebuilt the Kaaba, they set the foundation for the pilgrimage rituals observed by Muslims today.
*Core Traditions*
The historical legacy of Eid al-Adha lives on through three primary practices:
The Sacrifice (Qurbani): Muslims who are financially able offer a sacrifice (such as a sheep, goat, or cow).
Charity: The meat is divided into three equal portions: one for the family, one for relatives and friends, and one for the poor and needy.
Communal Prayer: Muslims perform special morning prayers (Salat al-Eid) and spend the days reflecting on the themes of sacrifice, trust, and obedience to Allah.

The Trial of Ibrahim (peace be upon him)
Prophet Ibrahim had prayed for many years to be blessed with a child, and was granted a son, Ismail (peace be upon him) , in his old age. Because of their complete trust and obedience to God, Ibrahim and Ismail prepared to carry out the act. Recognizing their absolute faith, Allah substituted a ram for Ismail just as Ibrahim went to make the sacrifice.
