I usually tidy up the table but have also heard complaints from servers on social media that they don’t like it. Damned if ya do and damned if ya don’t!

When you are a server and your boss happens to notice that the diner stacked their dishes he automatically assumes that you did not service the table timely and you get in trouble at work. There’s nothing I hated more as a server than seeing people who stacked their plates.

im a millennial, i also stack the plates, wipe the food from table, put glasses near the plates.... i cant leave the table untidy

stacking plates may help servers but to most it gives the appearance of the server/busser not properly tending to the table so the customer stacked the plates that were left unattended for longer than desired

That’s not a difference in generation that’s a difference in class and manners. I keep my table as clean as I can and it was my grandmother who instilled that trait in me.
