What $47 gets you in LA vs Guatemala 👇 First, I must say I had a very hard time finding a hotel in LA that was under $80 a night . Really thinking how LA has become a very expensive place to live and visit . My fellow Angelenos , it’s time to explore outside of LA! FAQ: What is the name of this hotel : This hotel is called Casa Del Mundo El Jaibalito. It is located in Lake Atitlan How to get here : You must arrive to Guatemala City Airport and take an Uber or taxi . I took a taxi and drove for about 4 hours to the town of Panajachel . From here you take a water taxi to the hotel .you can also take a helicopter and be there in less than 45 minutes but it’s quite costly . 🚁 How far is the hotel from Panajachel : It’s about 15-20 min by boat. You can either take a public or private taxi. I took a private for $15 usd. Is it really $47 a night: Yes, you can find rooms that start as low as $47. I chose their biggest room which had a private balcony and restroom and this was $128 a night . What to do in the hotel : Enjoy the hotel grounds , spa , jacuzzi for an extra cost and with reservation, the Mayan sauna , the restaurant, the views . Where to eat : The hotel is secluded , therefore you can eat at their restaurant on site which had the best food I had in Guatemala . Highly recommend the smoothies , hot chocolate and breakfast 🍳. You can also take a water taxi to nearby towns . They are about 10-15 min away . Can you swim in the lake : Many people do, I however do not recommend it . Waste doesn’t look that clean .
