fun fact. if you have an issue like this and it is NOT a cable issue. try winKey+ctrl+shift+B this will reset the gpu and can fix most simple issues.

common lenovo docking problem. it creates a virtual port on the docking hardware. this creates a strain and it "disconnects" randonly several times a day
