It depends on the nationality you're dealing with. British people will try and tear down and belittle anyone whereas Scandinavian professionals will give you the silent treatment if they disagree with you unless you're really out of order and even then they'll politely shun you. What works for me is I smile and say "let's agree that we're on opposing opinions on this subject" and then I guide to the bar and order tequila shots with me ...and sure enough they don't even remember what they were opposing and end up signing the business contract with me. Of course I always send 25% commission check to Anna Ekblom.
