I agree for most. But if I forget something from work I’m turning around to get it. They can’t turn the car around like we would for ourselves. So I’m going back for them. Shit happens

I absolutely agree!! I have been letting our son pack is suitcase since he was 6. I haven't looked over his suitcase since he was 9 because he got it! He is now 13 and it's not even a thought for me when get ready to go somewhere. One less thing you gotta think about! I also let him put together furniture. We bought a new house this year and he has put together 90% of the new items we purchased.

I cannot stress how important this message is. We are raising adults, not children.

Apparently, if you're not excelling in your job and your personal life, it's because your parents didn't do these three things, and not because of the choices you've made.

in the 1st grade I vividly remember forgetting my textbook and asked my dad to go back home and drop it off to me. He said nope closed the door and drove away. Lesson was loud and clear, I never forgot anything after that. I was flabbergasted at, but it taught me.

Lovingly hand all problems back to your kids! If you see them struggling with trying to figure things out, ask them “ would you like my advice or a few ideas of what I would do?” then you can share with them and allow them to choose which path they would like to try.

Part of me says” that’s my babies I’m gonna help them do it” then I see my husband struggle to find any basic thing and throwing a tantrum when I don’t jump and do it for him and then I say hmmmm yeah figure it out 😂

When I was a kid, I would always ask my dad how to spell words so he got me a dictionary for my birthday (also had 2tix to Fenway in the page that had baseball but ANYWAY) and again, I'd ask how to spell something and he'd always say look it up. It drove me crazy because I needed to know how to spell in order to look it up! BUT that did so much for me and now at work when I problem solve and learn new tricks, people are impressed and I always say "I just looked it up." it's not a skill everyone has unfortunately. So, thanks, Dad :)
