My investment portfolio contains mostly US/International index funds and some higher risk assets like cryptocurrency. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Dogecoin, and a few others. While my preferred method of owning crypto is using a hardware wallet, I do have some crypto Exchange Traded Funds in my retirement accounts. This falls under a category called Exchange Traded Products (ETPs). An ETP is an investment product that’s listed and traded on an exchange, similar to how you buy/sell stocks. ETPs can include ETFs, ETNs, and commodity trusts. Why some people use ETPs for crypto exposure: * Familiar “brokerage-style” access (instead of learning on-chain tools) * No self-custody (you’re not personally responsible for seed phrases/private keys) * Crypto exposure in retirement accounts, such as Roth IRAs. Just keep in mind, ETPs typically have management fees called ”expense ratio”. Ensure you understand the long term impact of them (free calculators online for this).
