it's easier to high grade your studs. I've never thought twice about the straightness of a wall I've built (even a couple when I made mistakes) and nobody ever noticed

Can some one help me out. One stud is bowed in. He used a 5 ft level over 3 bays. That did not show the true plane of the wall.. Do we not use string lines or chock lines for planing any more. 😏

What we did was we cut a slot the width of a sawblade at about a 45° angle and ran a screw in there and that sucked the stud straight out that’s how it worked for us. I’ve never seen it done this way in the 45 years that I’ve been working in the industry.

I know some people cut studs on angle where ever its crowned to straighten before drywall (if non load bearring) this was actually seems much better to me
