@charlotteparler: The claim ‘this best selling $300 moisturizer’ already has my alarm bells up BECAUSE IN THIS ECONOMY? I’ll let the scientists debunk or prove the claims but a lil 101 on thinking through every step. Don’t have to be a scientist to be suspicious on claims 🥰 also—I like the founders of one skin so don’t come for them, it isn’t helpful, but it’s important for people that promote science to also debunk misinformation ❤️ #skincare #oneskin #criticalthinking #media101 #CapCut
I use the Clinique dramatically different lotion and there’s so many people who have aged beautifully that have used it for decades so I’m sure I’ll be okay

You are one of the only creators/ business owners I take advice from or look to for product recommendations because I've seen your rigor for clinical data and transparency on this app for the better part of this decade!

It’s such a shame because I would see that headline and immediately scroll past, but it’s saddens me that people will read it and actually consider it valuable or truthful in any way, then probably spend a while worrying about it

And on Yuka specifically, we agree! I actually mentioned this later in the episode. Skincare formulations are complex, and ingredients can’t really be evaluated in isolation from dose, composition, and the formula around them. That’s why we focus our testing on the full formulation itself, making sure it is delivering what is expected without causing inflammation or toxicity. Happy to chat more offline! :)

It’s getting ridiculous how much people blindly trust the Yuka app when even their own T&Cs say their app does “not evaluate their effectiveness nor does it take into account the quantity of these ingredients”- arguably the two most important factors when it comes to evaluating products. Fearmongering ingredients without context isn’t science, it’s marketing 🤦🏻♀️

well, look at exosomes.... plated claims that they are different because they are using human platelets not plant. there has been some testing done in terms of hair growth but it's difficult to find more information....
