Some or maybe all GPS track your phones, I think, and when there is a huge amount of phones in one area that arent moving, it lables that as traffic

exactly so why TF can we not get an accurate download time for stuff? im tired of it starting at 2 hrs to download, pauses at 10% for 20 minutes. rips through the next 80% in half a minute, then gets stuck at 90% for an hr. like tf?

it knows theres trafic cuz it can detect the amount of phone signals moveing in a slow pace so tecnaclly if u brought a weelbarow of cellphones and walked down the street it would say theres trafic

It’s the app not the GPS the app is taking data from you and from the other drivers around and using advanced algorithms can estimate to a pretty high level of accuracy how long it will take you to go from point a to point b taking traffic into account. While you are driving it’s measuring your speed it’s measuring your stop times and it’s doing that with every car that has that app on the roads around you.

GPS will likely use maths based on the speed and distance of the roads it's taking you on to make the ETA, very smart technology

so google mapps drive time by how fast your phone is moving across the road. It gives them congestion ratios and more. still impressive
